Welcome to The HOS-5™ Daily Upgrade | Dr. EdemaYour Doctor-led insights on hormones, energy, longevity, metabolism, and modern health.First of all, thank you for being here. If you subscribed to my newsletter some time ago, you may have noticed things have been fairly quiet for a while. That is changing. Over the years, I’ve worked across various medical disciplines - from internal medicine, emergency medicine, intensive care, surgery, orthopedics, family medicine, to women’s and men’s health. One thing I kept noticing over and over again is that our traditional medicine seemed set up to be reactive and treat us just to be alive and not to thrive.
Many people are not necessarily “sick” in the traditional sense, but they are exhausted. I hear of patients complaining of being tired all the time, have low energy, poor sleep, weight gain, bran fog, low motivation and show real progressive decline in performance when they should not. As a body of knowledge, medicine does not actually lack the answers to these challenges or problems. We lack the framework and support system to help doctor spend the necessary time and resources to investigate, educate, treat and prevent these complaints with real drag on our lives and quality of existence.
Our medical information space remains fragmented, oversimplified, sensationalized, heavily commercialized, or deeply confusing, often with contradictory and sometimes dangerous information that the curious reader may b=not be sure what to believe and implement to optimize their health. So I decided to rebuild this newsletter with a clearer purpose. Welcome to The HOS-5™ Daily Upgrade.“HOS” stands for Human Operating System.The idea is simple: Your health is not just about treating disease. It is not just about "your test results are normal, so we cannot help with your symptoms." It is about understanding and optimizing the systems that drive how you feel, function, think, sleep, age, and perform. It is about providing you with physician-led trusted information on your symptoms, what could be causing them even if your test results are normal, what further testing might be required and practical real life action steps you can take to optimize your health beyond the hype we see online. Going forward, I’ll be sharing practical, evidence-based insights on topics like: hormones and testosterone, menopause and metabolic health, energy and fatigue, sleep and recovery, weight management, longevity and performance, nutrition and lifestyle medicine, and the realities of modern health that most people are never properly taught.
