Acne Message Boards: Five Acne Messages You Must Know

facing up to acne

While posting messages on this board, there are five messages all who suffers with acne must know:

  1. Acne is not caused by dirt. Skin cleansers can help in healing acne. Do not use astringents. Do not clean more than two times a day

  2. There is now evidence from recent research that Acne could be caused or made worse by the type of food you eat. The believe among scientist before 2007 was that acne is not caused by what you eat. Recent research evidence has consistently shown that those who eat food very rich in sugar and milk are more likely to have acne. There are inconclusive evidence though, that food rich in iodine, like sea foods, and kelp, as well as pork fat and milk could worsen acne in some individuals. Keep a diary of what you eat and see if there is any connection with breakouts of pimples

  3. If you have acne, take steps to treat it. Do not wait till "you grow out of it", especially if it affects you in any way

  4. Acne is treatable. Start with over-the-counter medicines. You may need treatment for up to three to six months initially, and then maintenance treatment with panoxyl products to completely overcome acne.

  5. Seek a doctor's help if you have tried over the counter medications. There are General Practitioners (GP) with specialist interest in dermatology or even qualified dermatologist who can help, where everything else have failed. Use them.
